Who am I to talk about this stuff?

Hello! I’m Susie Prout – Registered Midwife / Lactation Consultant, and now business mentor helping women build thriving online businesses, all while being mum to three little legends.

In 2019, I took a leap and started my business, Susie Prout Lactation. At the time, I was working as a midwife in a busy hospital, but I knew deep down I wanted something more... creative freedom, time freedom, and financial freedom.

With no roadmap, no coach, and no one telling me what to do next, I built everything from the ground up. What began as a simple idea has transformed into Australia’s leading online lactation platform, serving thousands of families every year. Along the way, I created a thriving online breastfeeding membership and program that has supported mums globally, and launched The Australian Breastfeeding Podcast—now with over 1 million downloads and counting.

Today, I’m proud to say I didn’t just start a business—I built a movement, I changed breastfeeding statistics in Australia, proving that with vision, grit, and persistence, you can turn a spark of an idea into something extraordinary.

More than the financial rewards, this business has given me the gift of time. Time to be there when my kids need me, time to enjoy the milestones, and time to create a rhythm of work that actually supports family life.

But let me be clear! It wasn’t overnight success. There were countless moments of trial and error, throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something stuck. If I’d had a mentor like I am now, I would have saved myself so much time, money, and stress.

And that’s why I feel so strongly about mentoring women today. Because if I can do it, with three kids, zero online business experience, and sheer determination — then you can too.

Now that I’ve shifted into mentoring, I get to guide female entrepreneurs through the same journey I walked — building a profitable online business while still putting family first. This is the work that lights me up.

I know what it takes, I’ve made the mistakes, and I’ve built the systems. My role is to help other women fast-track their success, skip the trial-and-error, and build businesses they’re proud of.
